About Sarena

I'm Sarena.

I've been told that I'm a natural-born storyteller.  I like telling stories with words, but I love telling stories with photographs.

I am lucky enough to work as a Marketing Specialist (graphic designer + photographer + social media person) for The Division of Outreach and Community Engagement at the University of Central Arkansas. It's incredible being able to use my skills as an artist for an amazing cause. I balance my (AH-MAZING) day job with my work as a freelance photographer and I feel lucky to have a job that encourages me to do so.

I am inspired by weird and wonderful human connections, the quirky stuff kids do, the great outdoors, and pretty light.

My grandparents, siblings, and friends are the most important people in my life. My grandma photographed me with her Canon AE-1 Program literally my entire life. When I was in high school she gifted me that camera & I've had one in my hand ever since. My grandma caught candid moments & that's exactly why I adore documentary photography. NOTHING beats REAL authentic moments.

When I'm not looking for pretty light for my next photo I'm doing serious home renovations DIY, drinking hot coffee, sharing moments with my siblings, playing video games, jamming on the guitar, painting portraits with watercolor, listening to crime podcasts, watching horror movies, playing kickball, rehearsing lines for local sketch comedy, listening to pop-punk music, annoying my cats, potting my next houseplant, taking a hot bubble bath, collecting Halloween decorations (because I'm obsessed), or shopping for my next black t-shirt.

This is my story and I'd love for you to be a part of it, no matter how short the chapter.
